Make sure that’s is really what you want. Research is a difficult job and as much as I am all up for people going in science – it is not for everyone, you need to be sure. But if you are, go for it! Don’t doubt yourself (you’re very likely smart enough), but also don’t be afraid to admit that you don’t know something and be ready to always learn.

Be curious. Try to come up with explanations for things that happen around you. The first shot at explaining them will most likely not work out. But it will guide you towards the right path. An average scientist will spend most of their time finding interesting events or things that have not yet been explained. Lucky scientists troughut their careers will be able to provide explanations on some of the unknown realities of the amazing world we live in. So by training your brain to be curious, you will lay the foundation for the future scientist “You”.
