It’s writing some text that has some specific rules, syntax. It’s like learning a complete new language that allows you to comunicate with computers so that you can give them some specific instructions. In my case (I am a data analyst) I have to code to tell my laptop how to analyse some data.

Yes, basically it is like writing in a language that a computer can understand. Coders write instructions for computers to follow so it accomplishes a task. It can be as simple as asking it to do 2+2 or as complicated as forecasting the weather.
