I wanted to be a mechanical engineering when I started in UCD. After first year, I switched to electrical and electronic engineering because there was lots of programming, which I really enjoyed. When I started my PhD, I took on a biomedical engineering project (measuring people’s sleep from their heart and breathing signals). I don’t think I ever wanted to be a biomedical engineer, but I ended up here. There are lots of interesting problems to do with health and the human body that electronic engineers can help solve, and that’s how I spend my time now, trying to solve some of these problems!
