      It’s not held in place… it’s constantly rotating (which is why we have days), wobbling (which is why we have seasons), moving around the sun (which is why we have years)… and the solar system itself is moving around the galaxy, which is itself moving!

      Our orbit is essentially caused by the gravity interaction between the Earth and Sun! All other effects are relatively minor.
