      Dear TheoD,
we have a lab but sometimes you need to go outside, even in the wild, to do your experiments

There’re many companies that make all that cool lab equipment, chemicals, computers etc. For example, in my lab, we use the same equipment for motion capture that people use for movies and videogames production. The ones with special effects and animation, and CGI in general.
Other “stuff” that I need for my experiments is volunteers and that’s usually my coworkers :D.

In my work, most of the stuff is online.
For example, the games we use for our experiments are designed for laptops and smartphones. So, all they need is a connection to the internet.
Also, when we need a very powerful computer, we can find it online too. Indeed, some companies have these powerful computers and let you use them through the internet.

As a geologists I get to go outside to collect my rocks. Geologists get to travel all over the world for this! For my laboratory experiments there are special stores where you I order the chemicals and equipment I need. It is its own industry!
